Port Eynon and Horton lay to the south of Gower, two beaches linked by a beautiful stretch of golden sand and dunes that on a summers day, could be a far-flung tropical paradise.

From fishing off the beach at Horton to a BBQ on the sand at Port Eynon as the sun sets, the location certainly has its admirers, and it’s easy to see why.

Take a wander up to Port Eynon point and cast your eye over the unobstructed views of the Bristol Channel or explore the paths and woodlands surrounding the beach.  For those that enjoy exploring castles and ruins, the remains of the Port Eynon Salt House are located to the southerly edge of the beach and offer an insight into the rich history of the area.

With its seaside shops selling everything you need for a day at the beach to the fish and chip-shops and cafes, you certainly won’t go hungry when staying in Port Eynon.  The local pub, The Ship Inn, is a traditional Gower pub that has undergone a recent refurbishment yet still retains its original charm.

Serving a wide range of food and locally brewed ale, the dog-friendly pub is a must whether you are visiting in the summer or winter months and is welcoming to all ages of visitor.

A short walk along a dusty path protected from the elements by the high dunes of the bay is Horton, another small Gower hamlet.  Very much a quiet, relaxing part of the bay, the beach at Horton is relatively quiet throughout the year and being dog-friendly, you can enjoy the sand and surf with your pet 12 months of the year.

Sat above Port Eynon and Horton is Scurlage.  With amenities such as a pharmacy, large convenience store (with cash point), fish & chip shop and country club (The Countryman), Scurlage is frequented by many who stay in the area either to top up on essentials or for a nights entertainment.
