Description

On arriving at Woodside you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in Nantucket on the East Coast of the US. Surrounded by a picket fence, a stepping stone path winds its way to a pretty wooden chalet with delicate wood carvings on the front gable and where a painted wooden swing seat on the sunny front veranda adds to the look and feel of this heavenly hideaway.

Woodside offers delightful holiday accommodation for 4/6 people in 2 bedrooms and a mezzanine floor with a double sofa bed. Set on the fringes of the quirky and quiet residential area of Sandy Lane, it boasts incredible views across Pennard Golf Course and towards Three Cliffs Bay from both a balcony and garden.

There's plenty of parking plus WiFi.

Sandy Lane was originally built as an area of holiday cottages for residents of Swansea at the start of the 20th Century. Many of the properties were made more robust during the Second World War to provide permanent homes for people who needed a safe retreat. Now the area has an eclectic mix of timber frame chalets many with an eco-friendly theme.

There's plenty to do in the immediate area. There's the Gower Inn, a friendly local pub with a good menu plus the Gower Heritage Centre with its restored watermill and kids' activity centre. Two small general stores are within walking distance in the adjacent Pennard estate and down the hill in Parkmill valley and there are some fabulous beaches within walking distance.

Note: Access to the property is via an unmade road and although there are pot holes, it is suitable for most vehicles.

Reviews

A lovely week - our first visit to Gower. Weather was very kind so we were able to get lots of walking in with our dog. The house is fab with stunning views. Three cliffs bay is lovely and the walk to Oxwich was challenging but worth it.

The R Family,

What a fab place you have, weather was great, nice walks with the dogs. Our week was so relaxing, just what we needed. We are looking forward already to our next visit. Thank you.

The B Family,

Our second visit to Woodside, such a special place that has given us fabulous memories. The weather has been amazing again, we're not convinced it ever rains in the Gower! We have enjoyed lovely walks around the golf course to Southgate, around Three Cliffs to Oxwich and back.Woodside is a perfect house to relax in away from it all. We hope to come back again very soon.

The W Family,

The M Family,

Excellent as usual, our fifth visit. The weather hasn't been too bad, mostly dry. Food at the Britannia and the King Arthur was very good. Looking forward to our next visit.

The H Family,
