Description

On arriving at Woodside you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in Nantucket on the East Coast of the US. Surrounded by a picket fence, a stepping stone path winds its way to a pretty wooden chalet with delicate wood carvings on the front gable and where a painted wooden swing seat on the sunny front veranda adds to the look and feel of this heavenly hideaway.

Woodside offers delightful holiday accommodation for 4/6 people in 2 bedrooms and a mezzanine floor with a double sofa bed. Set on the fringes of the quirky and quiet residential area of Sandy Lane, it boasts incredible views across Pennard Golf Course and towards Three Cliffs Bay from both a balcony and garden.

There's plenty of parking plus WiFi.

Sandy Lane was originally built as an area of holiday cottages for residents of Swansea at the start of the 20th Century. Many of the properties were made more robust during the Second World War to provide permanent homes for people who needed a safe retreat. Now the area has an eclectic mix of timber frame chalets many with an eco-friendly theme.

There's plenty to do in the immediate area. There's the Gower Inn, a friendly local pub with a good menu plus the Gower Heritage Centre with its restored watermill and kids' activity centre. Two small general stores are within walking distance in the adjacent Pennard estate and down the hill in Parkmill valley and there are some fabulous beaches within walking distance.

Note: Access to the property is via an unmade road and although there are pot holes, it is suitable for most vehicles.

Reviews

We have 2 giant breed dogs and the space in this property was fantastic for them. The garden was secure & the dogs loved their playtime outside. Walks from the back door of the property so you don't even need the car all the time. Wonderfully clean, comfortable, well equipped and amazing views from the balcony. Looking to return.

Mrs H,

WOW!!!! Lovely accommodation in a perfect position to enjoy The Gower. Already booked again for 2024.

Mr M,

Lovely house and location. You are straight onto footpaths which head to a beautiful beach so fantastic for dog walking. Two pubs, a shop and a cafe all reached via footpaths so a lead is rarely needed! Lovely laid back golf course course on your doorstep too and lots of beautiful, friendly free range cows which come right up to the gate and even down to the pub!

Miss O,

Woodside is a lovely comfortable clean cottage with loads of room. The location is excellent, nice walk to three cliffs and loads of coastal works from the back gate. Also shops, coffee shops and pub all in walking distance. Didn't need to use the car all week.

Mr H,

The cottage was very comfortable and in a great position. Loved our week away

Ms Louise P,

Road to property atrocious. Shower room and crockery a bit tired.Location and tranquility of property made up for it.

Mrs Linda J,

Woodside is a fabulous place & we were very happy with everything. Thank you.

Mrs Debbie C,

It is a great property in a great location.

Mr Chris U,

Beautifully equipped cottage in a fabulous location. Perfect for walking and accessing the beaches. This is my second stay at Woodside and I appreciate the improvements that have been carried out since my last stay. My only negative observation would be that there isn’t any hand soap in the kitchen / bathrooms. Liquid hand soap is so cheap that it’s a small thing that would improve the overall experience. After all even public toilets provide hand soap!

Mrs Rachel G,

Property has a washing machine which isn’t mentioned on the site. Also it has an outside tap and hose pipe that also isn’t mentioned. These items, particularly the tap, are very useful to know when you have a dog and are planning walks. Knowing that you can clean dirty dogs and muddy boots can tip the balance when deciding to book. The approach to the property is challenging! It does say on the site that it is an unmade road…..and it really is! I have an all road vehicle and we found the pot holes and surface very challenging. Anyone with a sports car or low slung vehicle should avoid this property. The property was wonderfully warm and comfortable. Loved the wood burner. Its location is perfect to walk from as the back gate gives access to loads of footpaths. It’s a very quiet location and also perfect for dark skies. We were lucky to have very clear nights for star spotting. I would definitely recommend this property and will look to stay again
