Facilities

The ultimate romantic getaway, one of only 2 properties in Pwll Du Bay (pronounced Puth Dee), Ship Cottage offers simple accommodation and the chance to escape the hustle and stress of everyday life and wake up in your very own (well almost!) secluded bay to the sound of the sea.
Pwll Du is situated in the heart of The Gower Peninsula, Britain's First Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This beautiful, picturesque beach has a history rich in smuggling and quarrying and is a haven to walkers, artists and nature lovers and considered by many as Gower's best kept secret. Originally built as a pub, to keep the quarry workers from getting too thirsty, the cottage is a stone's throw from the beach (literally you can throw a stone from your balcony to the beach)
THERE IS NO VEHICULAR ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY OTHER THAN VIA THE OWNER'S 4X4 LANDROVER. So you'll need a pair of walking boots and a sense of adventure. N.B. The owners who live in the adjoining property will collect you from a meeting point on arrival and transport you to your destination.

In very extreme cases, to add to the adventure of reaching your destination sometimes the small river floods and then access is by foot only via the beach or a woodland path (these routes add a 10 minute journey to the arrival). Testimonials

Thank you Kath and family for sharing such a beautiful space with us.

We have explored footpaths, gazed out to sea and bathed in the very warm sunshine. The cottage has been so cosy and the flowers and home made eggs a thoughtful welcome, thank you.

This special place has helped us to slow down , apperciate life, enjoy the peace and quiet together ... perfect. We hope to return and bring the sunshine with us once again.    Dave September 2014.

Loved the chicken eggs on arriving! We have had such a lovely, peaceful and relaxing week, just what we needed! The cottage is in such gorgeous surroundings that it doesn't matter about the walk to the car, there is always something we hadn't seen on previous trips out. Pwll Du and the Ships Cottage has been the perfect place for us to come to for our first family holiday. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and making our stay so relaxing. We will definitely be telling our friends and family to come and stay and we will be back to enjoy some more exploring! - 29-8-14

This holiday has been everything we hoped for, peace, quiet and away from the "Rat Race" for a while. Couldn't have wished for a more beautiful place, cosy, comfortable cottage and amazing coastal walks. The dogs have loved it. Thank you so much for your kindness and the fresh eggs and we love the mugs. Really going to miss this place and hope to come back again. Lovely memories to take home with us. Everyone we have met have been lovely and helpful. One word describes this little place "Sanctuary". - 7-11-14
