A dramatic sweep of bay called Swansea Sands extends from Swansea Marina to the bustling village of Mumbles and is simply perfect for water sports including sailing, sea kayaking, wake boarding and windsurfing. Its also popular for kite flying and dog walking.
For more great sandy beaches, head around Mumbles point to the craggy coves of Bracelet and Limeslade, and the family beaches of Rotherslade, Langland and Caswell, all well served by beachfront facilities.
Venture a little further west and marvel as a more rugged, wilder coastline starts to unfold to reveal some of the most dramatic surfing beaches in the UK. From Three Cliffs to Llangennith, Rhossili to Llanelli, its a haven for beach fun and water sports.
Whether learning to sail at the Oxwich Bay water sports club or the many sailing clubs and schools based in Swansea Marina, the area is a boat lovers paradise.
